Mair is the passion fueled love child of Mary Meyer and Aaron Goodrich. Combining 20+ years of accompanying various acts, the two found themselves playing the opry together, yet wanting more. Their taste as listeners differed from the music they were creating as hired guns, so they began developing their own music. On Lake Michigan in Winter '23, they carefully created a vibe around the songs, finding the sound of mair. Supporting Houndmouth in various cities of Fall '23 they gear up for more debut performances & releases in Winter '24 .
Much of Mary's growing up was spent in eastern Kansas and southern Missouri, as part of a large, traditional, homeschooled family. Her first love being cello / piano, frequent moves made finding teachers difficult, so Mary taught herself mandolin and other stringed instruments. At 16, she moved to Nashville, and after a short lived, church affiliated marriage, she turned to music and songwriting as the way forward. Since then, she's played the Opry half a dozen times, and was the first female touring member of Diamond Rio. She now enjoys playing the music she loves and is proud of.
Aaron's upbringing luckily had middle school/county talent shows in rural michigan to instill a fire to live via music...at 19yrs old moved to NYC and never looked back. After 4 years of chasing music in Brooklyn, tours to California made it enticing and spent 4 more years in Los Angeles. By the time a move to Nashville came around, he had already done two European tours with americana music. Once in Nashville he was recording/on the road the next 4 years with Colter Wall, Nikki Lane and performed with Sierra Ferrell, Mason Ramsey, Phosphorescent. Now touring with Houndmouth, he's found a harmonious balance musically and personally.
On stage, songsmith Mary plays electric guitar and sings, joined by Aaron playing drums and keys simultaneously. Production is a joint effort while in the studio.
